BBQ For Book with a side of Bluegrass

Stokes Partnership for Children is pleased to announce that the annual event “BBQ for Books with a Side of Bluegrass” will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Elementary School in King. Bluegrass music is woven into the very fabric of Stokes County’s rich heritage. BBQ for Books with a Side of Bluegrass raises funds for early literacy initiatives for the county’s young children, including Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Because of these two things, it only made sense to add a side of bluegrass to our event!

Four bands will be featured this year. We are excited to have None of the Above, Mason Via and Hot Trail Mix, The Brothers Band and the Traveling Danburys in the musical line-up. Bring your dancing shoes! You can look forward to good food and great entertainment, including our World Famous Silent Auction, Dessert Silent Auction, Heads and Tails Game, Slop Bucket Bidding and Pig Pen Raffle. BBQ for Books has the reputation for having spectacular auction items! We are always trying to outdo ourselves! Due to high demand, we will have our popular take-out option again this year. Now folks can choose to dine-in with us or take their food to go. However, we’re encouraging people to stay because they don’t want to miss out on the music, auctions and games! Food will be served from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and features John Brown’s BBQ. The first band begins at 5:00 p.m. and the last band ends at 8:45 p.m., with auction winners announced at that time. You do not have to be present to win. Tickets are $15 per plate, which includes barbecue pork, fried chicken, two slaws, beans, drink and dessert and all the entertainment.

Follow us on our Facebook page as information is updated and added. We will feature silent auction items there as time allows.
