Tracking Florence: East Coast Needs to Watch

GREENSBORO, NC -- Florence is still far away, but we're keeping a close eye on this storm. The WFMY News 2 Weather team predicts it may get uncomfortably close to the East Coast by the middle of next week.

As of Friday morning, Florence continued to slowly cross the Atlantic Ocean now moving more westerly compared to northwesterly. This westerly motion will continue through the weekend, allowing the storm to creep closer and closer to the United States. She is currently a tropical storm but is expected to regain hurricane intensity very quickly and could be a category 3 with winds around 125 by early next week.
