Greensboro Pride Festival Postponed
Organizers will reschedule the celebration due to the threat of Hurricane Florence
Alternative Resources of the Triad (ART) and organizers of Greensboro Pride have decided to postpone this year’s festival due to the threat of Hurricane Florence. The Greensboro Pride Festival was scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 15 along South Elm Street in downtown Greensboro. Greensboro Pride organizers did not come to the decision lightly. Organizers consulted with local meteorologists, City of Greensboro Leaders, the Greensboro Police Department, and Governor Roy Cooper’s Emergency Orders.
“We are concerned with the safety of performers, vendors, attendees, volunteers, staff, police officers, and everyone else involved in the festival,” says ART co-chair Paul Marshall. We are devastated to have made this decision, but we feel it is the right thing to do for the safety of our community.”
Out of respect for emergency responders and city leaders who are preparing for the storm, Alternative Resources of the Triad and Greensboro Pride will delay announcing a new festival date until after Hurricane Florence has passed.
