"Free the Shelters" The Guilford County Animal Shelter

THE GUILFORD COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES WILL OFFER FEE WAIVED ADOPTIONS THE WEEKEND OF JUNE 8TH AS PART OF “FREE THE SHELTERS”

Cathy Kangas, CEO and Founder of PRAI Beauty, announced today (Monday) that The Guilford County Animal Shelter will waive all adoption fees the weekend of June 8th as part of “Free the Shelters” a campaign to help homeless animals.

Since May 2017 “Free the Shelters” has found homes for 3,393 animals at 55 shelters in 16 states. Guilford County Animal Services is devoted to saving the lives of lost, abandoned and surrendered animals of Guilford County. The shelter provides support for the rural areas of Guilford County, including the cities of Greensboro and High Point. Its Animal Control Services is responsible for enforcing State and County ordinances pertaining to animal control, animal cruelty and abuse. All adoption fees will be paid by PRAI Beauty beginning Friday, June 8th through Sunday, June 10th. The shelter is located at 4525 W. Wendover Avenue in Greensboro. It is open from noon until 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The shelter was selected because of its commitment to helping animals in Guilford County. It has more than 200 animals looking for a home. “We hope this promotion encourages families looking for a new pet to head to Guilford County Animal Services and choose the rewarding experience of adopting a rescue animal,” said Jorge L. Ortega, Animal Services Director. “If you’ve been waiting to add a canine or feline companion to your family, now is the perfect time! During this adoption event, we’re waiving adoption fees for every shelter dog, cat, puppy and kitten available for adoption. Our goal is to find a loving home for all our shelter animals, and with your help, we can do it!” Cathy will announce the event the week of June 5th on HSN TV where she sells her successful cruelty-free skincare line PRAI Beauty. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of the United States, she is committed to helping all animals. As the owner of five rescue dogs, she knows how important adoption events are for animals in shelters. HSUS estimates that about 2.4 million healthy, adoptable dogs and cats are put down in a U.S. shelter each year – one every 13 seconds. Cathy said: “We are delighted to work with the Guilford County Animal Shelter for a “Free the Shelters” event the weekend of June 8th. This shelter is dedicated to helping animals find a home and we don’t want adoption fees to stand in the way. Our love for animals runs deep at PRAI Beauty and the “Free the Shelters” campaign is one of the ways we bring that passion to life.”
