Carowinds Coaster Closes After Crack Found In Support Beam While Operating

An amusement park has closed one of the most popular roller coasters in the world because of a structural issue.

On Friday, Carowinds, which is on the border of North and South Carolina, shut down the popular Fury 325 after a parkgoer noticed a large crack in one of the support beams.

The scary part? Passengers were riding the coaster with the sizeable crack visible to passersby.

A video showed the support beam bending as a coaster car zoomed through the layout. The person who shot the footage took the evidence to park officials and the fire department.

The park has indefinitely shut down the ride for repairs.

Fury 325 is advertised as the "tallest, fastest, longest giga coaster in North America."
