Free Healthcare Information Sessions: Davidson County


Hospice of Davidson County, Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center and Davidson County Senior Services are encouraging Davidson County residents to make their healthcare wishes known.

In conjunction with National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD), the group is hosting a series of four events April 17, 18, 19 and 24 designed to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making.

Each participating organization will be providing free information and tools for the public to discuss personal healthcare wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers, and execute written advance directives in accordance with North Carolina state laws. At the first three sessions, healthcare decision forms and notaries will be available free of charge with no appointment needed.

In addition, on Tuesday, April 24 there will be a free screening and discussion of the PBS program “Being Mortal” at the Rittling Conference Center, Davidson County Community College. “Being Mortal” delves into the hopes of patients and families facing terminal illness. After the screening, there is an audience-driven discussion focused on how to take concrete steps to identify and communicate wishes about end-of-life preferences.

The following free events are open to anyone 18 and up:

Tuesday, April 17 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., located at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center (207 Old Lexington Road, Thomasville)

Wednesday, April 18 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., located at Davidson County Senior Services (555-B West Center Street Ext, Lexington)

Thursday, April 19 from 4 p.m.- 6 p.m., located at Hospice of Davidson County (200 Hospice Way, Lexington)

Attorney Ryan McNeill, with Brinkley, Walser, Stoner to speak on the importance of estate planning at 4:30 p.m.

Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, David Snapp will be speaking on estate planning from the financial perspective at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, April 24 from 6-8 p.m., located at Rittling Conference Center, Davidson County Community College (T 297 DCC Road, Thomasville) Preregistration is required for this event by calling (336) 242-2290.
